Bright Beginnings Psychiatry, Precision Assessments for ADHD and Autism
Pinpointed Assessments. Personalized Support.
About Me | What I Offer
Hi, I’m Laura LaMonica, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner based in Virginia, specializing in mental health care for children and teens. I focus on delivering precision psychiatry—a personalized, data-driven approach that goes beyond checklists to truly understand each individual.
I provide comprehensive ADHD assessments using objective data and evidence-based tools, as well as autism evaluations for diagnostic clarity. I also offer medication management, therapy, and tailored recommendations based on each client’s unique neurobiology and history. You can explore my full range of services [here].
I believe psychiatry is both a science and an art. The science lies in using thorough evaluations, lab work, and even pharmacogenetic testing when appropriate. The art is in creating a space where clinical assessments feel more like conversations—where trust and understanding lead the way. My goal is always clarity, accuracy, and care that fits the individual, not just the diagnosis.
Services
-
Assessment with objective data scores and personalized recommendations based on objective data
-
Evaluations for the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder using gold standard tools such as ADOS-2, Vineland 3, ADI-R. Following evaluation, referrals may be provided prn to specialty services that an official diagnosis may assist in gaining insurance coverage for those specific services (ie: OT, Speech Therapy, ABA).
-
Medication treatment plans for ages 6 and up.
-
Parental Consultations to navigate the SPED process (obtaining and enforcing IEP/504)
-
Consultations to guide individuals of the process to make work or school feel like home when faced with a psychiatric disability. Many individuals suffer in silence when perhaps a simple accommodation such as an ergonomic chair or earbuds could improve their quality of life and overall production.
-
Certification allows individuals the right to use Virginia pharmaceutical regulated and graded cannabis as local dispensaries. It is my personal practice to follow Virginia law guidelines as well as assessing the risk versus benefit. Some diagnoses I have successfully utilized cannabis as part of their treatment include fibromyalgia, panic disorder, and insomnia.
-
ESA Letter/documentation if appropriate
-
Family Planning Coaching for patients TTC (trying to conceive) and juggling psychiatric medications or a psychiatric condition. This includes discussing the risk versus benefit of certain medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding, working with the OB/GYN to provide ongoing informed choices for the parent to be.
-
A thorough evaluation that may include record review if sent, reevaluation of diagnoses if appropriate, lab evaluations to rule out (and treat if appropriate) organic causes of physical conditions that can mimic mental health disorders.
-
Therapy Sessions to limited clients (pediatric clients, relationship issues, OCD education and support). The first appointmentt will consist of treatment planning with smart goals and an expected number of sessions to meet this goal, then refer to LPC/LMFT as needed to continue with progress and explore additional goals.
-
Second (or 3rd and 4th) opinions to patient hoping for an in depth evaluation that currently have a diagnosis they do not believe in or are a “catch all” (ie fibromyalgia/Anxiety/Chronic fatigue syndrome/POTS/ARFID)
